- 1 / 11For teachers
Receive tuition by card
Getting startedFrom what to prepare to what to ask guardians to do.
There are 5 steps. - 2 / 11How it works
Tuition goes straight to your bank account
On the billing day, we charge the card each guardian registered.
Aiyori issues the invoice in your classroom’s name.- Guardian’s card
- Your Stripe
- Your bank account
- Stripe is the company that handles the card payments. The account is your own.
- Aiyori does not hold the tuition. It does not receive card numbers either.
- You pay the payment fees directly to Stripe. Check the rates on Stripe’s pricing page.
- 3 / 11What to prepare
Have these at hand before you start
Stripe asks for them when you sign up.
- Email address
- A mobile phone that can receive SMS
- An identity document (an official ID such as a driver’s license or passport)
- The bank account that will receive the tuition
- The URL of your classroom’s website or social media page
- The classroom name to show on card statements (in some countries, you are asked for it in more than one script)
- 4 / 11Step 1
Connect Stripe from Aiyori’s settings
Open “Settings” on the teacher’s screen and press “Connect Stripe” under “Card payments for tuition (Stripe)”.
You are taken to Stripe’s sign-up screen.- Only the teacher who created the classroom can do this.
- 5 / 11Step 2
Complete the sign-up on Stripe’s screens
Stripe asks for your email address, type of business (individual or company), your personal details, what your business does, your bank account, and the name shown on statements, in that order.
There are 3 choices to make along the way.- Fraud protection: the basic level that is included as standard is enough. Higher plans add a fee for each transaction.
- Climate contributions: if you do not want to use this, choose the option to skip it for now.
- Tax calculation (Stripe Tax): if you do not want to use this, choose the option not to set it up now.
- 6 / 11Step 3
Continue until it says “Connected”
When you submit the sign-up, you return to Aiyori’s settings.
If it says “Stripe needs more information”, press “Connect Stripe” again. The remaining items, such as identity documents, are shown.- When it says “Connected”, you are done.
- Checking the documents can take some time.
- 7 / 11Step 4
Set up your fee menu and billing dates
Do this in “Settings” on the teacher screen.
- Under “Fee menu”, create your tuition items (a name and a tax-inclusive amount).
- Under “Billing defaults”, choose the Invoice date and the Billing date (the day the card is charged). You can also choose whether to bill for the following month or the current month.
- Under “Details shown on invoices”, enter the issuer’s name and address to show on invoices. Enter a Qualified Invoice Issuer registration number only if your classroom has one.
- 8 / 11Step 5
Set tuition for each student and give the guardian the link
Under “Tuition” on the student’s page, set the method to “Card (Stripe)”, choose what to bill (items from your menu, or your own description and amount), and save.
- After you save, the “Page where the guardian adds their card” link appears. Pass it to the guardian.
- The guardian opens the link and registers a card. No login is needed.
- You can bring the link up again later from “Show the card registration page again”.
- 9 / 11After that
Billing and charging happen automatically every month
On the morning of the issue day, guardians receive a billing notice by email. On the billing day, the registered card is charged. There is nothing you need to do.
- On the “Billing” screen, you can see “Paid” and “Overdue” for each student.
- If a charge fails, the guardian is notified, and we try again 3 days and 7 days later. From the “Invoices and payment” page on the web, the guardian can pay or change the card.
- Even if tuition stays unpaid, nothing is paused automatically. It appears in your To Do, and you decide.
- 10 / 11Good to know
Just 4 things before you start
So that nothing catches you out later.
- Refunds are made in your Stripe Dashboard.
- If you receive tuition another way, such as in cash, set that invoice to “Mark as paid”. It will not be charged to the card.
- Card registration and payment are done on the web. They do not appear in the iPhone and iPad app.
- The classroom is the seller of the tuition. Please prepare any notices required by the law of your country or region yourself.
